FAQ’s

Q:  How do I find time to implement the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) in my school with everything else I have to do? (i.e. curriculum requirements, power hour, other programs/initiatives, etc.)

A:   Success of the OBPP is dependent upon the support and commitment of the school administrator.  Additionally, school staff must have flexibility in implementing the program with creative measures.  Our staff has been successful in helping schools implement the program with fidelity while maintaining compliance with other district requirements. Some examples of strategies that work are:
Incorporating bullying prevention into the regular curriculum where appropriate
(i.e. reading literature that has bullying related themes)
Including class meeting times in the weekly school schedule
Integrating services of school providers and other communities agencies

Q:  What are class meetings?

A:  A “class meeting” is an age-old teaching strategy used to build positive peer relationships through the development of social skills like communication, trust, and respect.  Class meetings are student forums that are facilitated by teachers to help build a sense of community in the classroom while helping students feel connected to their school. The OBPP requires teachers to hold weekly class meetings.
