Although most schools have their kick-off at the beginning of the school year, why not start the New Year with another!  This is a perfect way to… 

Introduce or revisit your Bullying Prevention Program in a way that is fun and effective… host a “theme” week!  Select a week in January to do theme-related activities that the entire school can participate in.  Promote the activities in advance by giving informational flyers to staff, parents, and community members.

Other Activities to Kick-off the New Year…
Hold student assemblies featuring student performances or a guest speaker.
Create a collage of student work related to the theme (laminated the collage to create a lasting memory)
Theme-related contest
Host a Pep Rally for staff, students, and parents
Plan a socialized games day
(Divide the school into two or more teams comprised of students from every grade level.  Engage the students in several activities that encourage friendly competition, such as an obstacle course or relay race.)
